Lollapaolooza is coming up in two days and we are getting our sensory strategies ready ! We are excited to partner with Lollapalooza and be available to help on-site. Here are some ways to prep for Lollapalooza if you have sensory difficulties: 1) Bring in an empty water bottle or Camel Pack to use the free water refilling stations stationed around the park! Way better then buying soda to stay hydrated. 2) Bring ear plugs and/or noise-reducing headphones. Even if you are usually not noise-sensitive, the crowd noise alone can be overwhelming, let alone the music. Popping in some ear plugs still allows you to hear but decreases the volume on your auditory system. If you forget yours or lose them, com see us at the Access Tent or flag down one of our staff throughout the festival in Sensory Access shirts for a free pair. 3) Sunglasses are a must for the bright sun and also fantastic for those who don’t like the bright stage lights. 4) Check our twitter for live updates during the festival on more calm locations to watch the festival from, and look at the map to see some “Quiet Spaces” we’ve been able to designate around the park. 5) Patrons with Autism and Sensory Processing Disorder who can’t handle the crowds can access the disability viewing platforms, come see us in the Access Center for a Disability Wristband. 6) Check your bag size! Bringing a bag is a great idea, but this year it has to be smaller than 14″ x 11″ x 5″, and can’t have more than one opening. Lockers are available for rent. 7) Check the policies about what you can bring in the park for Lolla! There are no coolers, pets, hammocks or Vapes allowed. 8) For kids, there is an awesome Kidzapalooza area inside Lollapalooza from 11am to 7pm that has family-friendly music, arts and crafts and more.
